Creative Development

Set out an area of the room as a town with roads, zebra and pelican crossings, fire, police and ambulance stations and a variety of play people and vehicles. Encourage children to enjoy playing in the town and to be people who help others to be safe. Provide signpost shapes cut from card, crayons and pencils and encourage children to make signs which could help people to be safe. (C5)

Enjoy putting actions and percussion to songs and poems which feature people who help to keep us safe such as ‘The fireman’ in Apusskido Songs for Children, and ‘London’s Burning’ (traditional). (C2)
